Working with David Meltzer photography eased the tension of the day for our family. With so many things to be concerned about, the last matter to cause a problem with is with the lasting memories produced during the day and evening. David managed our expectations so well for our first Bar-Mitzvah that it was an easy phone call and decision for our second Simcha only two short years later. David has been photographing every family even for the past five years….that includes one wedding, two Bar Mitzvahs, and two Bat Mitzvahs. I used David to photograph two family functions that took place over a three year period. Not only does David produce beautiful results; but, more importantly, he brings comfort, ease, and levity to all participants in the event. Even during a (normally boring) formal photo session, David manages to get everyone involved and laughing….bringing a smile to every picture. The pictures you took at each of our son’s events will be life-long treasures that will always connect us to the memories of one of our family’s most cherished moments. I don’t intend to sound soppy, but that is how we feel.
We enjoyed immensely working with you. After each of our parties we heard from family and friends about how they enjoyed interacting with you. I know from earlier experience with other photographers that the picture taking at a party, particularly, the portraits, can be a stressful time for all. Family needs to be rounded up, people are often waiting their turn before the lens, kids are running around. I could go on. But your professionalism, ability with people, and at-ease personality made this stress-free for all of us. In particular, you have a great fan in my mother, who you may recall needed a little hand-holding at the right time.
Most importantly, the pictures and the albums turned out great. Our biggest challenge was that we had too many good pictures to choose from. But we appreciated that you viewed your role as not just taking the pictures, but helping us create the albums we wanted to have. We very much appreciated the time you gave us in sitting with us to organize our albums, make the best choices, and then bring the projects to a timing conclusion.
Thanks again, David. We have a few years to go, but when the weddings are upon us, you will of course hear from us.

We were extremely happy with our pictures from our daughter, Jessica’s Bat Mitzvah. It was stress-free photography, even with little ones involved! We have our son’s Bar Mitzvah in a few years and we hope David will let us book him now!

We had originally planned to use a photographer recommended by a family friend. When he got sick two weeks prior to the Bat Mitzvah and could not do the job, I looked back to the cards I had saved from the Bar Mitzvah fair and remembered that your work was the most impressive. As we booked you fairly late, we were so lucky that you happened to be open that weekend. I am happy to say it couldn’t have worked out better if I had booked you years in advance, which for Ali’s I will! I knew right away when I spent some time with you and saw more of your work that I had really lucked out. When you met our family, it confirmed that. We all felt very comfortable with you, especially Michaela the Bat Mitzvah girl, as well as her younger sister Ali. Your cool-headed professionalism was so appreciated during the tumult of the day prior to the ceremony, when we took our synagogue pictures, and especially during the afternoon of the Bat Mitzvah when you did our portraits. Schedules got upset, appointments ran late, nannies didn’t show, but David kept on taking gorgeous pictures and putting everyone at ease! At the event, you were everywhere it seemed but in a manner that was never obtrusive. The results were incredible! In the portraits, everyone in the family never looked better. At the event, you captured the essence of the celebration, in every way possible. Mickey felt so happy that you were her photographer, and the rapport the two of you developed is evident in every picture of her that you took. Ali already was flirting with you in anticipation of her Bat Mitzvah and your photos of her reflect her personality completely! With our first Bat Mitzvah behind us, the only remnant of this momentous occasion in Mickey’s and our life is these photographs. Every time we look at them we are there again, dancing, smiling and rejoicing. Thank you for preserving it in such a magnificent way. Ali’s will be sooner than we think! See you in January, 2006!
